[Pre-Order Item] Seddon Atkinson Strato 40' Flatbed and Pallet Load - W&J Riding, Longridge, Lancashire
Father and son William and James Riding formed W&J Riding in 1924 and operated from their depot in Longridge, near Preston in Lancashire. The firm was to become one of the most famous haulage companies in the country with a fleet of over one hundred vehicles, and depots in Teeside and in Scotland. Although in later years they became part of the Transport and Development Group (TDG) they retained their own livery until the retirement of Tom Riding in 1995. During the 1980's and 1990's Riding's ran a substantial number of Seddon-Atkinson Stratos. The vehicle we have chosen to model was something of a double first for the company. Not only was it the very first Strato to join the fleet but was also the first to be fitted with the Cummins L.10 325 engine. In keeping with the Riding tradition of allocating fleet names, this vehicle was called "Invincible" and carried fleet no. 24. Ridings were also noted for trying to secure registration numbers which included a zero or double zero, hence F500 BFV.
